The US chamber and chambers of commerce respond to Black Lives Matter: Cheap talk, progressive neoliberalism, or transformative change?

Abstract This article examines the responses of US Chamber Commerce and state- local-level chambers commerce to Black Lives Matter (BLM). The Commerce's Equality Opportunity Initiative stresses business case for racial equity economic benefits that can be attained by overcoming race-related inequalities. Many are adopting racially progressive positions, often at some cost themselves. contributes a typology stances actions draws on interviews with American leaders characterize organization BLM.
